Less Is More.

I came across a book on something I have never seen; thought about the idea, rejected doing it, moved on, later of course, saw the finished project somewhere, ... Internet, newspapers, zines, companies, and there I stand, letting learning as a change in behaviour (Lord of thr Flies?) to give what my life is meant to give, to keep one's right livelihood.
Any ways, the book I picked up was a co-laboration, "labor" as the key word, id est. Been told the U.S. is no place for intellectuals? My response was "Bloom where I am planted." It is well-grounded, a mother of invention, the need being to release toxins, cleanse oneself like reading at midnight once a year thr 150 Psalms. Feel it in your bones, your skin, the warmth in your ears, the sharpened vision when in love w/ what one is doing. Australians and Chinese both contributed ("tribe?") to this book called Microstories. Formula/dogma; Write less than one thousand (1000) words. Simple and straightforward or not. My writing class students really took to it. It was a collection of "gentle steps" and a doable exercise/assignment. Probably to date one would call it a more hipster Nanostories. Quite a find. Other constructs might suffice? A renga or new rules for rengas/"haiku"Probably. Lots of clear, lucid ideas organised and presented themselves in brief expression, a rather lexical access drill for the reader AND writer. One cannot be reminded the precision, clarity, austere, stoic and well-chiseled work, The material was fresh, a "rigorous proof" and a context dense forum is set before the writer. I was eating it up. Less is more.
Another example is the Samurai sword editing. I had been taught something rather close in writing classes. I really learned it from my N. Goldberg. This was pure, clear and escape with freedom from confusion. Besides maybe an occassional adversary, maybe many, ... one ought (take what you want/leave the rest) to stand clear of confusion. Get a focus on a clarity, a clarification, a rectitude to push symbols. An artist friend, call him; Bill J. reminded me like the Buddha in the Tao Book of Painting, ... one never wants to confuse a friend, yes and maybe like once a year for the adversary!?!!! Just cut any junk out of the "to be" last draft. This is not far removed from the derivative, toxic residual expression of poisonous words, phrases, sentences/statements, paragraphs, sections/chapters. Take as a premise to use the drafts as copious source in words. Words that might serve as getting to the meaning, the lion's share, the heart, the breath for the time being. Later we see there was hidden subconscious junk, better dealt w/ in the lake pose. Meditation does wonders; from relaxation, brain cell rejuvenation and removed by the magic of well-being related tools to have and/or develop/practice. In yoga this is called the corpse sana/dead-man pose. Help; test being not latched onto everyword. This is liberating. So pump out the words, then cut the "garbage-out." That might even lean toward reducing symptoms of depression w/ the addition of a daily walk/"constitutional." Writing has many benefits. Learning is a writing side-effect. Writing to learn/Learning to write gives one a wholly, a holistically, well-integrated experience. Log ten thousand hrs. at a craft/an art form, and do not be surprised if you have had a learning experience, increased your work skills/social skills and whatever contribution to society macro/micro you have made. Even if it is that blue haired aunt Diedre!
